Fall From Grace: Ode To What Once Was
Fall From Grace: Ode To What Once Was
I approached this piece like building a piece of architecture; adding elements, creating structure and depth, visually intriguing. Yet, also like a quilt; it is soft and hangs like a tapestry. It is a stunning piece in person. Using new and repurposed fabrics such as clothing and saris, I layered the fabric elements collage-like, and appliquéd them together using sewing. I then free motion embroidered many of the arms to create more depth and texture. Finally, enticing elements like 3D printed little heads and fun fur were added to create a mixed media, fabric "painting" that will surely dominate and enhance a wall! Break free of the canvas!
