ADVANCED FREE MOTION MACHINE EMBROIDERY: Wed. Apr. 4, 2018

99.00

Classes taught by Leisa Rich, 42 years of sewing/design/art professional experience, MFA, BFA, B.Ed-Art.

DATE: Wednesday, April 4, 2018

Explore the exciting, creative technique of free motion machine embroidery -- a method of using a sewing machine and thread as art tools -- on various 2 dimensional surfaces and in 3 dimensional forms. This is an advanced class. **** Must have completed Free Motion Machine Embroidery Intro with Leisa Rich. Transition common fabric and found materials from flat to dimensional, change smooth surfaces into textural, and make the common, dynamic. Use various dissolvable papers, glues, use elastic and embroidery floss in the bobbin, and create sculptural forms. Skills learned can be used to embellish functional pieces such as quilts, clothing, home décor or art by adding texture and visual interest to the fabrics they are made from, make “painting with thread” representational portraits, and “draw” using thread (no drawing skill needed!)

This class includes: All materials, sewing supplies, and thread.

Students will use:

-       a variety of sewing threads geared to each technique

-       special papers and dissolvable bases

-       unusual materials

Students will learn:
